A seasoned entrepreneur, Dr. Barstow founded and led three biotechnology companies that were involved in:

Dr. Barstow also managed the Federal court-ordered removal of a chemical company that was a severe threat to the health and safety of surrounding residents. He generated income for this project by overseeing the manufacture of a product that didn't generate waste and complied with the court order. He also conserved cash by converting more than 2 million gallons of waste chemicals to saleable products.

Dr. Barstow earned an undergraduate degree in chemistry and physics from Edinboro University, and a doctorate in chemistry from Syracuse University. He also was a postdoctoral research associate and a research assistant professor at the University of Arizona. In addition, Dr. Barstow has taught biochemistry at the University of Arizona, and organic chemistry at Robert College in Istanbul, Turkey.

Dr. Barstow has served on advisory boards for the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management, College of Engineering, and Separation Sciences Center. He also has been named to the city's Small Business Commission by two mayors, and has received governor's appointments to statewide councils dealing with economic development, investments, and high technology.
